Question: replaced ignition switch now engine wont turn over
key no longer turned in ignition, replaced entire ignition switch with new after completed key turns, dash lights and accessories function starter wont turn

Remove the little wood grain plastic panel under the steering column (2 screws ) loosen the 4 bolts holding up the steering column about 1/2 way. Now with a flashlight look though the space between the top of the column through the space formed by the lowered steering column and you will see a rod that should moved up and down when you turn the ignition switch on and off to the start position. This little rod connects to the actual starter switch mounted 1/2 down the top of the steering column. if it does not move, it has popped off at the top where the ignition switch is, or it has popped out of the hole on the starter switch assemble itself.

my lincoln is not starting or wont turn over at the ignition switch but it will turn at the starter with a screwdriver but it wont crank.
